Each year Southern Living Magazine designates a local charity to assist with the management of the
Idea House, and to receive a portion of ticket sales as a donation to assist their cause.
This
year, the Senoia Idea House will benefit The Americal Cancer Society's Cattle Barons' Ball.
The Cattle Barons' Ball
is a western style fundraising event that brings our community together in the fight against cancer. The 2010 Barons'
Ball will be held on Saturday, November 6th at Dolce Atlanta-Peachtree. The evening will include dinner, drinks, dancing,
entertainment, silent auction, games and more. In its 8th year of the event in Fayette County, we are hoping to raise
over $125,000 putting our 8 year total over $1,200,000! The Barons' Ball is coordinated by a volunteer planning committee
and supported through the generosity of local businesses and individuals. The funds raised at the Barons' Ball benefit
the American Cancer Society.
The
American Cancer Society is working to create a world with more birthdays, and less cancer. We help people stay well
by helping people take steps to prevent cancer or find it at its earliest, most treatable stages. We help people get
well by being in your corner around the clock to help you make decisions and guide you through a cancer diagnosis. We
find cures by funding research that helps us better understand, prevent and cure cancer. We fight back against cancer
by working with lawmakers to pass laws to defeat cancer and rally communities worldwide to join in the fight.
The American Cancer Society office in Peachtree City offers many
programs and services to cancer patients and their families in our community. The Wig Room is open 5 days a week where
women receive free wigs, hats and scarves. Look Good...Feel Better is a free two-hour session where women undergoing
cancer treatment receive make-up kits and tips on skin and hair changes. Reach to Recovery is a breast
cancer support program where trained breast cancer survivors talk with newly diagnosed patients. Road to Recovery
volunteers help cancer patients get to and from scheduled treatment appointments. The American Cancer Society expects
to serve over 300 cancer patients in Fayette and Coweta counties this year alone.
